Watching the Puppy Play

Isn’t she brilliant?  Maybe not, but she’s always good for a laugh!

Dad’s Camera

My dad has been very kind (as usual) and allowed me to borrow his camera while I am without.  I have also enjoyed playing with his fun lenses.  This is from an otherwise uninteresting shrub in my backyard.  I think there is a little bitty spider on one of the leaves.  Photography is good for the soul.

The Toofthlesh Wonder!

Mallory managed to lose three teeth within two days.  It helped that she took a header into the road a couple of week ago to loosen them all up a bit.  Poor kid.  But let me just say this:  It is the right of every parent to laugh with unbridled abandon at their children trying to talk through missing front teeth.  I do not believe that it will scar them for life.  We work so hard as parents, I believe missing teeth are a gift from God.  He loves us that much!

Something you may not know about the Bishop.

Click on this link to go to The Dog Poop Initiative website.  Kirk Weisler is in the Atlanta South Mission presidency and lives in Fayetteville.  If you follow the link to educators you will find Kendall, and a side of him you have probably never seen.

The LAST Cake

I really enjoyed making this wedding cake.  It was fun to work with a bride that knows what she wants.  I snapped this pic of the bride she was coming down the stairs and posing for the wedding photographer.  I just wanted to show how her love of all things yellow shows in the dress and the cake.  It was beautiful!  I will miss the cake biz a little, though I’m sure there will always be cakes for me to make.  I look forward to putting all of my creative juices into my photography now.

Dinosaur Booties in the Hallway

This morning after a long night with constant visitors to our bed, Kendall related a very funny story. One of the times that he took Brantley back to her own bed he left the room and turned off the lamp on his way out. Brantley started to cry and when Kendall asked her what was wrong she said "I need the light on Dad. When it's off I see dinosaur booties in the hallway." Kendall asked her if she ever saw the whole dino but she assured him it was only their booties (read bums). She was mostly asleep during this conversation so I asked her this afternoon to confirm. I was told that she does indeed see dinosaur booties in the hallway. Not their tails though because they are sitting on them. She is not afraid of them while they are sitting down but she wants the light on so that she can make sure they haven't moved. Smart girl. I'd want to keep an eye on them too.

When I have nightmares about dinosaurs this is what I see:
Truly frightening!

Happy 40th (gasp!!!) Birthday Kendall!

Kendall’s birthday was on the 4th and it was a big one!  We had a big party last year and I wanted this year to be more personal.  Kendall has been a little out of sorts this week and did not know how he wanted to celebrate, so I decided for him.  We started the day with an early breakfast with the girls at IHOP.  It was nice to be together as a family before I whisked Kendall off to the beach.  We drove to Ft. Walton and checked in to a brand new Comfort Inn.  I’m not sure anyone had ever stayed in our room before.  We had a great view of the Santa Rosa Sound and all of the boats.  Very nice spot.  We had lunch, changed clothes and headed to Beasley Park.  I have never been there before but my sister recommended it as a place for beach portraits.  It’s a lovely little public beach with protected dunes with wild flowers and a beautiful, clean, snow white beach.  It was perfect.  We took off walking and soon left all of the people behind.  For about a mile and a half we didn’t see anyone else.  Just seagulls and sandpipers.  The weather was perfect and the water was crystal clear.  After our fun in the sun we took a few pictures and tried out the beach lighting so I can write off the trip (clever!).  Then we cleaned up and headed out to dinner.  We ended up at the Boardwalk at Okaloosa Island which is a little shopping area with  several places to eat.   We chose Floyd’s which ended up being quite yummy.  After a stroll through a light rain we located a Starbuck’s and headed back to the hotel for dessert.  We watched “Men in Black II” on TV and called it a day.  Friday was another beautiful day.  We slept in until 10:00 and then drove into Destin because we were craving Chick-fil-a.  Then back to Beasley Park, our new favorite beach.  We were sad to leave in the afternoon but all good things must end so we hopped in the car and headed home.  We found some friends on the way home and I just had to stop and take their picture.  I also found some signs at a flea market that I photographed for my niece’s room.  We were happy and just a little sunburned when we got home last night.  Thanks to Belinda and The Evan’s and Kurtis and Kim for watching our girls at the last minute.  I look forward to spending my 40th (in 2.5 years) at the same spot, though I doubt we will be doing any swimming in December!
